Professional carpet & upholstery extraction machines are designed to work by rinsing and recovering the suspended pollutants, soil and cleaning agents from the carpet, sofa, upholstery or textiles whilst also stabilising and neutralising the cleaning agents alkaline pH. The physical cleaning and release of soils from the materials takes place prior to rinsing.
Initially, your carpet will be vacuumed by the attending technician prior to an alkaline cleaning solution ranging from Ph 8 to PH 11 being applied to the carpet. Ph may be stronger on heavily soiled commercial floor coverings. The cleaning agent is then brushed into the carpet, agitating the fibre and breaking the surface tension of the soil on the carpet.
After a pre-determined dwell time, the cleaning agent is recovered into the Hot Water Extraction tank, having been neutralised with an acid rinse, bringing the Ph level back down to neutral Ph 7.
